La Crosse city, county considering sites for solar panels
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — La Crosse area officials are considering how and where they could install solar panels at a dozen sites around the city and county.
During the Sustainable La Crosse Commission meeting Thursday evening, officials heard about the proposed locations for the solar panels.
An outside consultant surveyed various area locations and determined where some of the best areas would be. Those include the waste water treatment plant, city hall and the courthouse.
The consultant will also help figure out what financing options are available.
The commission has created green goals for the city to meet by 2025. One of the goals states that at least 25% of the La Crosse’s energy needs in public facilities will be generated from renewable resources.
