La Crosse Chamber hosts Protective Services Panel

Representatives from police, fire departments stress importance of community working together

Local businesses are hearing from local law enforcement and fire agencies about how they can help the community.

The La Crosse Area Chamber of Commerce hosted representatives from the La Crosse Police and Fire Departments, the County Sheriff and the Town of Campbell Fire Chief for a panel Monday morning.

Officials talked about how they could help local business owners, but also explained how businesses can help make our community a better place to live.

“We can’t make an impact if nobody tells us what’s going on in the community,” said La Crosse Fire Chief Gregg Cleveland. “The bottom line is we’re all in this thing together as a community, and many of these issues need to be dealt with from the community level, not just a single organization such as the fire department.”

Chief Cleveland says Monday’s forum also helped explain to business owners how the fire department works with law enforcement and how the two departments overlap.
