La Crosse Central students learn importance of voting
Event part of series of discussions in La Crosse area
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Area students are learning the importance of voting.
A series of voter awareness and registration events are being held at area high schools this month.
Wednesday students at Central High School heard how they can involved now and when they are of legal voting age.
Students from Logan, Holmen, Onalaska and Bangor are set to take part in voting events in the next few weeks.
The topics new eligible voters can weigh in on can have a quick impact on their lives.
“The ability or not for teachers to carry guns in schools, this is something that school boards grapple with. And in this area specifically, school boards are elected positions and there will be school board positions elections in April,” said Amy Dummer with the Driftless Voter Coalition.
The events are organized by the League of Women’s Voters of the La Crosse Area and the Driftless Voter Coalition.
