La Crosse Center prepares for WIAA Boys State Basketball Tournament

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – The La Crosse Center is preparing for a second big weekend of fans when WIAA Boys State Basketball tips off later this week.

The Center hosted the WIAA Girls State Basketball Tournament last weekend – the largest event it has held in a year.

Social distancing and capacity limits were in place for fans.

Center executive director Art Fahey said Monday while the first weekend of games had few problems, they’re still going to be careful about bringing events into the building.

“I think it is still going to be event by event. We’re still in the pandemic. We’re not getting ahead of ourselves. So every time we’ve got something we want to do, we’ll be in consultation with the county and say ‘here’s our game plan, is this approved?'” Fahey said.

Fahey also said he was surprised by how open visitors were to using contactless payment options last weekend.
