La Crosse Center hosts FIRST Robotic Competition: Seven Rivers Region

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Young Wisconsin techies are charged up and ready to compete at the FIRST Robotic Competition of the Seven Rivers Region.

The competition is being held at the La Crosse Center.

After Thursday’s set-up and practice day, matches began Friday between 46 high school teams.

Those teams are put into groups of three to compete against each other.

Teams score points according to how many tasks their robots can accomplish.

“They’re shooting cargo up into a hangar, they’re climbing at the end of the match, they’re doing all sorts of these cooperative activities to really help each other succeed and do well,” said Emma Schuff, a FIRST senior mentor.

Four of the top contenders from this competition will head to the World Championships in Houston, Texas next month.
