La Crosse celebrates Earth Week with Recycling Fair

This weekend’s Earth Fair events continued with the Recycling Fair.

Several La Crosse organizations worked together Sunday to help people get rid of a wide variety of unwanted items. There was paper shredding, electronics recycling, scrap metal collection and flag retirement. Money gathered from the scrap metal collection went to The Boy Scouts of America. Car seats were also recycled during the fair.

“We are completely dismantling the car seats. We take apart the cloth, the plastic. We take out the metal. Then Harter’s donates a dumpster for us to be able to recycle all the plastic from the seats, and then we also are able to recycle the metal as well,” said volunteer Megan Anderson.

WAFER was also on site to collect food donations.
