La Crosse band shell project to move forward
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — The architectural design of a proposed band shell for La Crosse’s Riverside Park is moving forward.
The Parks Board voted Thursday night to approve a free-standing design, meaning the band shell would not be directly connected to the band stand.
Tonight’s vote means the Band Shell Consortium can now present a final design, and with that approval bids can be taken, a contractor hired and shovels put in the ground.
“Really, it’s something that’s been talked about and asked for a long time, so this is a real big win for the user groups and the people that are championing this whole movement,” said Parks, Recreation and Forestry Interim Director Jay Odegaard.
No tax payer dollars are going towards the band shell project as the Consortium is fundraising all $500,000 through private donations.
