La Crescent Youth Summer Baseball and Softball announces return to play
La Crescent Youth Summer Baseball and Softball has announced its intent to return to play this summer in a post on their official Facebook page.
They will follow Minnesota Department of health social distancing guidelines. There won’t be any games or tournaments scheduled at this point. Instead, there will be practices in pod format, with each pod holding no more than 9 players to a single coach, with 2-3 practices a week.
The organization says their teams could play games in the Coulee Region Sports League in July if restrictions are lifted.
They also announced they’re including the Junior and Senior Legion teams under their insurance, and their hope is that they’ll be able to get those players a chance to play against other teams. For now, they’ll be limited to intrasquad games.
Registration is staying open through June 1 and can be found on lacrescentsummerball.org.
When News 8 Now Sports asked a league board member for an interview, they responded quote, “After talking to the board and the president we will respectfully decline. We don’t want any more publicly other than within our own community.”
