Kickstarter campaign fund students ideas to help community

Business students at UW-La Crosse are asking for you help in funding ideas to better the community.

Four of 11 groups in the entrepreneurship class at UWL pitched their ideas at the crowd funding event, La Crosse Soup last weekend.

The winning idea was to add technology to Hixon Forest trails to share digital maps and historical information to hikers.

That left 10 of the ideas, from an ice skating rink at Riverside Park to solar powered trash cans unused, and unfunded.

“When I heard my classmates won, I was more than thrilled for them, but there was that part of me was like, man I really want to make that ice rink happen,” said Kacy Orzwadowski, a student in the class.

There is now a Kickstarter campaign to help these dreams become a reality.  The goal is to raise about $10,000.
