Kicking Bear Ministries’ hosts 3rd annual Mudfest Saturday

Kicking Bear Ministries 3 rd annual Mudfest was Saturday at Bethany Church in La Crosse.

The free event, which started at 4:00 p.m. and ended at 8:00 p.m., featured several mud-centric competitions for middle school and high school students to take part in.

Kids at Mudfest could also try their hand at archery and tomahawk throwing.

The founding servant of Kicking Bear Ministries, Ray Howell, said that he was on a path of destruction in his youth before someone took him hunting, and he wants to have that effect on children today with his ministry.

“Our purpose is just to tear it up and have a blast with the kids — just like Mudfest back here. I mean, there’s kids having the time of their life, at no cost; and what we’re gonna do is just let them know, no matter what their problems are on the streets, God’s got a purpose for them, and it ain’t the garbage,” said Howell.

Howell said the event draws interest because it is “different”.
