Keeping animals cool during heat waves

LA CROSSE COUNTY, Wis. — People aren’t the only ones seeking shade as the temperatures continue to climb.

Local farmers are looking for ways to keep these guys cool as well. Paul Lash owns this farm in La Crosse County, just outside of Melrose Mindoro.

Lash says the scorching heat can take a toll on animals.

“They just don’t eat and drink. And they start panting a lot. You just got to try and get them to cool down,” said Lash.

That is why Lash is using fans and is giving them plenty of water to help them beat the heat.

Lash says hot weather like this has killed some of his cows over the years.
