Joyce grew up in Mauston and attended Catholic schools there. She met her future husband, Ernest, at the Oakdale Carnival when she was 17. They fell in love and married June 7, 1958 and went on to have six children. When her children grew up, Joyce ventured out into the workforce to explore new opportunities. Over the years she ran her own daycare and worked at the Company Store, as well as the Grounded Patio at Gundersen. In her free time she enjoyed trips to Mill Bluff and picnicking with family, cooking, baking, and making ceramics. She was a big animal lover, especially her pets, Fritzy, Bullet, Beefcake, Esther Pester, Teddy, and Smokey that she owned throughout the years. She had a very special bond with her bulldog Tulsa who stayed by her side. Joyce loved the “Young and the Restless,” scary movies, reading, and puzzles.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Ernest, her parents, Elmer Oden Vollmer and Marie Francis Grassel, a brother Robert W. Reichardt and sister-in-law Dee Reichardt of Ramsey, MN and two sons, John and Gary Kidd both of La Crosse.
