Jon Erickson to show paintings at Winona County History Center

WINONA, Minn. (WKBT) – A local artist is getting ready to show off his work for the good of the Winona County History Center.

Jon Erickson is a plein air painter whose “Land and Sky” show will be opening up at the History Center’s Lobby and Gallery.

Erickson worked as an electrician and recently retired, but he’s been painting for 15 years.

His retirement has allowed him to spend more time putting paint to canvas.

Some of the scenes you see at the show might look familiar.

“I paint locally and regionally, mostly focused on the Driftless area: bluffs, river bottom, prairie, forests, whatever’s around the Coulee Region,” said Erickson.

A portion of the proceeds from any sales of Erickson’s paintings will go towards supporting the History Center.

His work will be featured from November 23 to January 16th.

There’s a free reception on Tuesday from 4-6 p.m.

The reception is free and open to the public.
