Johnny Davis racking up pre-draft interviews at NBA Combine

Johnny Davis has gone down to Chicago this week for the NBA Draft Combine.

Most of the prospects in Chicago will play 5-on-5 scrimmages, but Davis won’t need to suit up for things like that. He’s already put on plenty on tape for scouts to fall in love with, and the La Crosse Central star has made a huge impression with NBA teams.

Davis has told reporters in Chicago he’s interviewed with the Knicks, Pistons, Cavs, Spurs, Wizards, and Nuggets so far. All those teams pick between 5th and 14th overall.

“Just being able to meet the guys who work behind the scenes and strategize to whatever pick they need or to move pieces around,” Davis told ESPN.

Earlier this week Davis told the Athletic that the chance to play for Gregg Popovich and the Spurs, who pick ninth, would be something he’d like to see happen.

The Bucks pick 24th overall, so they’d need to get aggressive with trade offers to have a shot at drafting him.

The NBA Draft begins June 23 at 7 p.m. CT.
