Jill Hehn, age 49, gained her heavenly wings on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on June 19, 1971 in Grundy Center, Iowa to Craig and Linda Vinton.
Jill spent all of her younger years in Iowa and also raised her three beautiful children there.
Jill devoted her entire adult life to taking care of others which included 20+ years of in-home daycare, working at a residential treatment facility and also at an assisted care facility for seniors. While working at the residential treatment facility (Wyalusing Academy), Jill earned the title “Mama Jill” which lovingly followed her through each phase of her life.
While at Wyalusing Academy, Jill also met the love of her life, Ben Hehn. In 2012, Jill moved to Boscobel, Wisconsin to join Ben and his three children and on October 7, 2017, they were united in marriage which officially combined what they referred to as their “herd.”
Jill was a proud part of the Boscobel Fire Department fire family and to say that she was a proud fire wife seems like such an understatement for the amount of pride she felt while supporting Ben as he served his local communities. She also chose to stay home and provide in-home daycare again while in Boscobel to help balance family responsibilities and her home became a safe drop off place for fire kids during fire calls.
One of life’s greatest joys for Jill came when she was promoted to a “Grammy” which brought a whole new level of love to her life. Children were Jill’s specialty and she knew how to make them feel special. She loved her daycare kids like they were her own and each one of them had a unique individual nickname to go along with their special bond with her.
Ben and Jill’s door was always open and they loved having friends and family over for a nice campfire or to enjoy a football game (especially when the Iowa Hawkeyes played the Wisconsin Badgers), but Jill didn’t need a specific reason to get together, enjoy life and have a nice cold beverage.
Jill is survived by her loving husband and her person, Ben Hehn; their beautiful herd, Josie, Sydney, Clayton, Peyton, Carter and Maddison; grandchildren, Raimee, Emersyen and Ryker; her mother, Linda Vinton; her sister, Paula (Newt) Adams; her nephew and favorite, Brock (Mary) Adams; in laws, Bob and Jody Hehn and family; along with many close friends, her treasured fire family and special daycare kids. Jill was preceded in death by her father and grandparents.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 3:30pm at the Beeman-Patchak Funeral Home in Boscobel with visitation from 2:30-3:30 p.m. with a Time of Sharing at 3:30. A celebration of life will be held at the Boscobel Bowl and Banquet following the services. Jill requested casual attire be worn and would love to have the Iowa Hawkeyes and her favorite fire departments represented. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Boscobel Fire Department.
The Beeman-Patchak Funeral Home of Boscobel is serving Jill’s family.
