Jason Simcakoski Memorial Golf Course reopens in Tomah
TOMAH, Wis. (WKBT) – Veterans receiving medical care in our area will once again have an option for some fun, outdoor recreation.
The Tomah VA Medical Center held a grand re-opening for the Jason Simcakoski Memorial Golf Course today.
The course is named in honor of a veteran who passed away from a drug overdose.
The Jason Simcakoski Foundation, City of Tomah and the Disabled American Veterans organization all contributed to the project.
U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs Denis McDonough and Representative Ron Kind were among those who attended the grand reopening.
McDonough says golf can be a health benefit for veterans.
“Now, other veterans will share and benefit from the magic of walking the links because of your personal, emotional, spiritual, physical, and yes, financial investments,” McDonough said.
The course was last open in 2014.
