Jackson County hunter misses out on buck, captures wolf (on camera) instead

The wolf may have been on the hunt as well

JACKSON COUNTY, Wis. (WKBT) – A Jackson County hunter didn’t bag a buck, but he’s not complaining.

Torrence Riek captured an even bigger critter– on camera. Riek and his wife Kayle, went out  hunting together for the first time on Thanksgiving morning. The couple didn’t see a thing. When they headed back in, they found out why. The Riek’s spotted a wolf; possibly on a hunt as well.  The wolf caught a glimpse of the couple, turned, and slowly starting creeping towards them. It eventually stopped about 30 yards out, before turning away.

The wolves are being removed from the federal endangered species list for the lower 48 states. Riek described catching a glimpse of a wolf in-person as “Such a cool experience.”
