Jackson County deputies arrest woman in man’s death
52-year-old woman accused of first-degree intentional homicide
BROCKWAY, Wis. (WKBT) – Jackson County Sheriff’s Office investigators arrested a 52-year-old Brockway woman on suspicion of first-degree intentional homicide in connection with the Sept. 9 death of a 53-year-old man.
Deputies responding to a call of a male needing emergency medical attention at 210 Park Ave. at about 10:30 p.m in the Town of Brockway, found Thomas J. Boetcher and began administering life-saving measures until Black River Falls Emergency Medical Services arrived.
Other deputies found that Kellie J. Schmidt, who also lived at 210 Park Ave., was injured. An ambulance took her to Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire.
Boetcher was air-lifted to Marshfield Hospital, where he was pronounced dead that night.
A forensic autopsy was completed, and based on information investigators gathered, the sheriff’s office announced Schmidt’s arrest Monday. She is being held at the Jackson County Jail pending her initial court appearance, according to the sheriff’s office.
It was an isolated incident, according to a sheriff’s news release.
Assisting in the investigation were the Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigations, the Department of Justice State Crime Lab, and the Wisconsin State Patrol Technical Recon Group.
