Irishfest Wraps Up

Down at the south side Oktoberfest grounds, Irish Fest came to an end Sunday.

After a rainy start on Friday, crowds flocked to the grounds on Saturday for Irish food, music, cooking classes and much more.

Although more subdued Sunday, organizers say this year’s event was the biggest one yet and are happy to see so many people enjoying the fest.

Coordinators say they’re not surprised that the fest is growing so rapidly.

“The Irish Music … everyone loves. It’s pretty tough to sit still and when listening to Irish music down there. So I think regardless of your your heritage that you enjoy that type of music and people come down for that purpose. And we’ve tried to make it such a good family fest with activities for the kids all over the place and other activities so I think it’s just become a great La Crosse tradition along with the other festival in the area,” Irishfest President Pat Stephens said.

The fest budgets for about 6 thousand people but expect this year’s final number to be much higher.
