International Owl Center continues work toward new facility

Work may be completed by 2025

HOUSTON, Minn. (WKBT) – People fly in from around the globe to see the International Own Center, a popular, local tourist destination..

And those visitors could see a new facility within a few years.

The International Owl Center in Houston is working on a plan to build a new center.

Leaders are in the process of interviewing construction and design companies.

Work may be completed by 2025.

“A lot of that will depend on how fundraising goes and how dollars come in and what the construction costs are,” said Karla Bloem, the center’s executive director.

Houses still standing at the site of the future center are being used for online programs and cold-weather housing for some of the owls.
