Increasing Clouds Today… But Temps Still Above Average

Thursday’s High: 41F / Tonight’s Low: 25F – Last updated Thursday, December 5, 2019 at 8:40 AM…

A weak clipper system will zip by to our northeast today. This will cause increasing clouds across our area, but temps will still be above average with highs ranging from the mid 30s (north) to mid 40s (south). La Crosse should end up right around 40F or so.

Mostly to partly cloudy tonight. Temps will be seasonably chilly with lows ranging from the mid-upper teens (north) to mid-upper 20s (south). La Crosse will likely see lows in the mid 20s.

Mostly sunny Friday, but colder with highs in the mid 20s to low 30s.

Looking Ahead… We’ll warm right back up for the weekend with highs in the upper 30s to low 40s. Saturday looks dry with partly sunny skies. Clouds return Sunday, with a small chance of a light rain shower or sprinkles in spots.

Low pressure and a strong cold front track across the region on Monday, bringing a decent chance for some snow. It’s too early to say how much snow could fall, but light accumulations look like a good bet at this time. Highs will be in the low 30s in the morning, with temps falling through the day.

Light snow showers will taper Tuesday morning, but much colder air follows Monday’s system. Expect highs only in the teens Tuesday and Wednesday, perhaps Thursday too… with mostly cloudy skies through the period. Overnight lows will drop into the single digits, even below zero in some areas… especially if we see a couple of inches of snow accumulate on Monday. The more snow that’s on the ground, the colder the daytime highs and nighttime lows will be Tuesday through Thursday. More sunshine is expected next Friday, but still cold with highs around 20F.

I guess we should enjoy these above average temps while we can! Have a good Thursday. -Bill Graul
