Increase of porch pirates in La Crosse area following Black Friday
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Police are warning people in our area to be on the lookout for thieves this holiday season.
La Crosse Police say they have seen a slight increase of ‘porch pirates’ the past few days.
The thieves steal packages left by delivery services before they can be brought into someone’s house.
Police suggest having your packages delivered to a location you know is secure, like your job.
“A lot of people are at work during the day, if you could somehow get those packages delivered there, perhaps you can have them delivered to an alternate location like a neighbor, or ensure that if it is delivered to your residence that somebody is watching it,” said La Crosse Police Sargent Tom Walsh.
If you do have a package that is stolen, you should report it to your local police department.
Any video you have of a package theft may help any suspects to be identified.
