Imprisoned Wisconsin man charged in friend’s heroin OD
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A 24-year-old imprisoned Wisconsin man is charged with first-degree reckless homicide for his friend’s fatal heroin overdose last year.
Dane Schrader of McFarland was charged Wednesday in Dane County Circuit Court.
According to the complaint, Schrader told investigators that he bought heroin for 24-year-old Matthew Hans and took it to Hans’ home in McFarland. The complaint says Schrader told police that Hans asked him to buy him some heroin, so he bought a half-gram using money Hans had given him.
Police and rescue workers were called when Hans apparently was not breathing in September 2010 but were unable to revive him.
The Wisconsin State Journal reports Schrader is at the Oshkosh prison, where he has about two years left on a sentence for burglary and other convictions.
