Impact of water quality discussed at event in La Crosse
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — The importance of water quality for people and animals drove discussion Tuesday in La Crosse.
A Community Resiliency Symposium focused on local waterways and how local governments, fishers, and farmers are addressing issues in the La Crosse River watershed.
Speakers discussed fish habitats, and how water runoff from farms can impact area water quality.
“You can’t just say we live in our own little world. Everything you do on the land effects our water and that includes groundwater, that includes our streams and that in turn affects our fish,” said Heidi Keuler, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service fish habitat biologist.
Western Technical College’s Sustainability Institute hosted Tuesday’s event.
