Impact of second daily train stopping considered in La Crosse
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — A second Amtrak train route is being discussed today in La Crosse.
The economic impact of a second daily line Amtrak line was the focus of a meeting in La Crosse.
The ‘TCMC train’, which is short for Twin Cities-Milwaukee-Chicago train, would add a second daily route between those cities.
La Crosse would be along the route.
And the cost of the train would be split between Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois, the states the route would serve.
Adding another option could create a lot of growth in the amount of passengers.
“La Crosse can benefit with the second train, the eastbound train would be reliable, would be much more reliable than the current eastbound train of the Empire Builder,” said Terry Brown, WisARP vice president of communications.
The discussion was hosted by the La Crosse Area Development Corporation and La Crosse County.
