Impact of data on businesses discussed at forum in La Crosse

Using data effectively can improve the future of some businesses.

That was the message at Thursday’s spring economic indicators breakfast at UW-La Crosse.

The business forum allowed professionals to learn how using data can improve the success of their business.

One economics professor with UWL says specializing in data can help a businesses’ bottom line.

“If you can segment your customers and understand which would be motivated to walk in by the discount and just provide it to them and the other customers that are walking in, no matter what, they don’t get the discount, you can increase the profitability of that particular offer,” said T.J Brook, economic department chair at UW-La Crosse.

The event was hosted by the 7 Rivers Alliance.
