Impact of county fair cancellations felt by 4-H members

La Crosse County officials looking to add online ways to help kids learn.

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – The loss of county fairs throughout our area is felt by local 4-H members.

The organization helps provide experiences for kids to learn like raising animals and art projects.

While each county fair lasts for a weekend, the loss can be felt much longer.

“When a fair is canceled like this, it kind of sets off a domino effect. They want to showcase in other exhibits throughout the year. And fair is just one of the many things in that system,” said positive youth development educator with UW Extension Emily Cook.

4-H officials in La Crosse County are looking at ways to provide virtual ways to help kids learn and grow.
