Law enforcement searching Johnson Creek landfill as Halderson investigation continues

JOHNSON CREEK, Wis. — Dane County authorities have expanded their investigation into the murder of Bart Halderson and the disappearance of Krista Halderson to a landfill near Johnson Creek.

Authorities with the Dane County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday that law enforcement have been searching the landfill with help from K-9 teams with the Madison Police Department. The search has reportedly been going on for several days and continued Tuesday.

The Dane County Medical Examiner is still working to identify the human remains found in northwestern Dane County last week.

Crime scene investigators are also actively working to process the Halderson’s home in Windsor. Law enforcement said that process can be “slow and tedious.”
