WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — Grocery store chain Hy-Vee has pulled all of its Hy-Vee and Mealtime branded potato salad products from its shelves “due to a presumptive positive microbial result on the line that the potatoes were processed on.”

In a news release Friday evening, the Iowa-based company said while final test results are not expected for the next 7-10 days, it voluntarily withdrew the products out of an abundance of caution. The release did not provide further details about what led to the products being pulled from shelves.

The affected products were sold in grab-and-go refrigerated cases and deli service cases at stores across eight states, including Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa. Expiration dates on the products range from July 31 to August 4.

Hy-Vee said customers who bought the products should throw them away or return them to a store for a refund.
