I-90 Exit 3 project nearing completion

After several years of work, one of the biggest road construction projects in the La Crosse area is almost complete.

WisDOT says I-90 Exit 3 project on La Crosse’s north side is about a month away from being finished. That includes new on and off ramps for the interstate and expanded lanes on Rose Street.

You’ve probably noticed the northbound lanes have been done on Rose Street for a little while now. DOT officials say the southbound lanes are also almost done, and one lane of traffic on the new pavement should be opened up sometime in the next two weeks.

The entire area should be up and running with no lane restrictions by November 17th.

“It feels really good,” said WisDOT project manager Rob Winterton. “In our office, we don’t get too many four-year projects, so when you do it, you see it piece-by-piece every year, but it’s good to see the final piece come together.”

The project also includes a new eagle watching area along the river. Winterton says most of that work should also be done by next month, but the landscaping will be done in the spring.
