Hunters rescued from capsized boat in Stoddard
Incident happened Wed. night, boat recovered by rescue crews Thurs.
STODDARD, Wis. (WKBT) — Crews in Vernon County recovered a 12-foot flat bottom boat from the Mississippi River on Thursday.
The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office and the Stoddard Fire Department responded to a report of a capsized boat south of Goose Island Park just before noon on Thursday. According to a release from the Sheriff’s Office, they learned while on scene that the boat had actually capsized early Wednesday night.
Two hunters that were in the boat, 22-year-old Henry Dixon and 19-year-old George Dixon of La Crosse, were picked up by another hunter and taken to shore after the boat capsized that night. There were no injuries.
The boat was towed back to shore by the Stoddard Fire Department on Thursday, where its owner picked it up.
