Hundreds hit the ice for Mite Jamboree
Omni Center hosts 11 teams for youth hockey event
ONALASKA, Wis. (WKBT) — Youth hockey players from around the region got a chance to play hockey in Onalaska Sunday.
Eleven teams of players eight years old and younger competed in the Mite Jamboree at the Omni Center.
The event is hosted by the Onalaska-Holmen Tornado Youth Hockey Program. Teams came from as far as Wisconsin Rapids and Red Wing to compete.
Organizers say the event is simply a great time for young hockey players.
“We look forward to it. Having this many little kids so excited to come in and play whether it’s the first game or second game. They’re here to learn and they’re here to have fun,” said Omni Center recreation supervisor Kelly Hanson.
