Houston County nonprofit hosts event to raise awareness about domestic violence

A local organization spent the afternoon shedding light on an issue often kept in the dark.

Bluff Country Family Resources hosted Caledonia community members this morning to talk about domestic violence.

The stories of abuse survivors were told to show how violence impacts entire communities.

The Houston County nonprofit provides services to those living in violent homes.

While this afternoon’s turnout was small, event organizers say it’s more about letting people know there are people and resources available.

“If there’s people that aren’t comfortable to join us on the courthouse lawn, but they know that we’re here but maybe they’re in the vicinity, maybe it gives them courage and strength to continue to deal with their situation and try to speak out and get help for themselves,” said Bluff Country Family Resources Executive Director Rosanne St, Sauver.
