Hotel hopes to open by Friday following pipe break
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Repairs are already underway at an area hotel after a broken pipe forced a temporary closure.
Power has already been restored to 80 percent of the building and heating should be restored soon.
Seven rooms will need to be renovated because of water damage.
The La Crosse county health department said yesterday they condemned the building because there is no running water, heat, electricity or working fire alarms.
Being closed for a short time has had a big impact.
“We took a huge hit not only in the hotel portion last weekend, being full the entire both days, our restaurant and bar took a major hit as well,” said Dan Deicher, General Manager, Days Inn Hotel and Conference Center.
Hotel staff say they they hope to be taking reservations by Friday.
