Homeless Connect provides area homeless with resources to find help

An event at the La Crosse Center is helping the city’s homeless find the resources they need to get back on their feet.

The La Crosse Homeless Coalition held its annual Homeless Connect event Thursday.

Nearly 30 community organizations, county departments and other agencies were all under one roof, providing information and support for those who are homeless or in danger of becoming homeless.

“We have a really powerful service community in La Crosse, a really active one, and there are a lot of people, a lot of players in that, and to have them all under one roof for a day, that’s the important part here is bringing together a lot of resources all at once to help as many people as we can,” said Mark Schimpf of the La Crosse Homeless Coalition.

This was the third year the coalition has held the Homeless Connect event, and they say they’ll continue to do it as long as it’s needed.
