Holmen students enjoy meal of student-raised chicken
More than 3,000 meals served during the annual meal
HOLMEN, Wis. (WKBT) – Students are eating up an educational opportunity in our area.
More than 3,000 servings of student- raised chicken was served students in Holmen Friday.
Students from the district’s Future Farmers of America classes raised the chickens for the event.
Pork chops were also on the menu from student-raised pigs.
And even the sweet corn was grown by students on school grounds.
The experience will provide more than a tasty meal for some of the kids.
“I’m going to school for veternary medicine, so seeing not really the break down down of a chicken, but just to kind of see how everything works and that side of it, as I’d be the one taking care of the animals,” said Holmen FFA member Eliora Fredricks.
This is the 6th year of the student-raised meal in the Holmen district.
