Holmen School District holds 4th annual ‘Winner Winner Chicken Dinner’
HOLMEN, Wis. (WKBT) — Student-raised chickens were on the lunch menu Friday for the Holmen School District.
The fourth annual ‘Winner Winner Chicken Dinner’ offered hundreds of chickens raised in the district’s Future Farmers of America classes.
FFA students raised them from chicks, before sending them to a USDA licensed processing facility in Minnesota.
More than three-thousand servings of chicken fed the entire student body in all six Holmen schools.
The meal was completed with potatoes from Viroqua, student grown sweet corn, Wisconsin milk, and lettuce grown in the district’s greenhouse.
