Holmen Passes New Sexting Ordinance
HOLMEN, Wis. (WKBT) — Holmen Police district passed a new ordinance this week, focusing on sexting cases between minors.
The new ordinance, allows the Holmen police to determine if passing of explicit photographs from minor to minor would be a misdemeanor or felony.
The idea behind the ruling, explains Lt. Erich Zwicker , is to educate minors, without attaching a felony charge that would follow them for life.
” Hopefully the whole purpose of this is to educate We can get them understand this is a serious situation that can affect their lives. We’re not trying to ruin their lives but to make sure they understand, ” explained Zwicker .
Zwicker also explained, that spreading of improper photos can be stopped at the source, especially if families communicate about their social habits, parents monitor what their child is doing online.
