Holmen honors veterans at community center

HOLMEN, Wis. (WKBT) – Holmen honored its veterans at the Holmen Area Community Center.

“This is a way we can stop, very deliberately, on a single day and just say thanks to everybody that served our nation,” said Derrick Van Order, a Navy veteran and a candidate for Wisconsin’s 3rd congressional district.

Thursday’s program featured Tim Carrier of the Holmen Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Carrier says veterans deserve to be thanked every day of the year, especially as some struggle with their past experiences.

“I always run into guys that need help, and they don’t know which direction to go, and the more information you can feed them, the better off they are, because the veterans neet it today, they really do,” said Carrier.

Kids from the Boys and Girls club also stopped by to give veterans letters of thanks.
