Holmen, Holland celebrate boundary agreement

Agreement will last at least 10 years

Village of Holmen officials are celebrating this afternoon following a boundary agreement with the Town of Holland.

Holmen hosted the signing ceremony to mark the end of the boundary discussions.

The agreement includes the potential for future annexations if necessary for village projects. Officials from both the village and the town say the agreement helps better determine which municipality is responsible for certain areas.

“It will provide a degree of certainty when the town plans projects, and a certain amount of stability because we’ll know what might be coming along as far as annexations,” said Town of Holland Chair Katherine Warzynski.

The renewable agreement will last at least ten years.

Discussions between the two municipalities began about three years ago.
