Holmen High School marching band to perform at the TaxSlayer Bowl
HOLMEN, Wis. (WKBT) — The Holmen High School marching band has been invited by WorldStrides Heritage Performance to perform at the TaxSlayer Bowl.
This is the first time the band has been invited to participate in a college bowl game.
About 120 students will travel to Jacksonville, Florida, and perform with bands across the country at the halftime show of the major college bowl game. The TaxSlayer Bowl is scheduled for January 2, 2016.
“We consider this trip an extension of our classroom, and are very excited about the performance aspects of participating in this event,” said Michelle Jensen, the director of the Holmen High School marching band.
The band parents and community raised the needed funds for the trip in just under four months.
Jensen said marching band enrollment has grown so much that the school had to buy 60 additional uniforms.
