Holmen Fire Dept. to hire new chief soon
HOLMEN, Wis. (WKBT) — The Holmen Area Fire Department hopes to hire a new Chief by the fall.
The fire department’s board has been collecting applications after its former Chief Doug Schober resigned back in December. Multiple firefighters spoke out against Schober and how he was running the department. Since then, the department has put in place two interim fire chiefs to share the responsibilities.
The board will begin interviews to find a permanent solution in a couple of weeks.
The hope is to find someone who can take charge of a growing department and community.
“Our community is growing fast. You know, we serve two townships and the village of Holmen. With all the growth happening in the north county area of La Crosse, we need a chief that has experience working with in those parameters, but also working with a volunteer department” said Chuck Olson, who is on the Holmen Area Fire Board.
The board hopes to fill the position by October 1.
