Holmen educator selected VFW Teacher of the Year in district
HOLMEN, Wis. (WKBT)- A Holmen High School Social Studies teacher was selected as the VFW Teacher of the Year by District 11 of the Wisconsin Department of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Christopher Sepich will be receiving an award at the Wisconsin VFW Department Convention in June in Wausau. Sepich also took second place in the state contest.
VFW Post 7908 nominated Sepich saying he put in ‘endless’ hours into bring the Vietnam Memorial Moving Wall to Holmen this past May.
The VFW Post Commander says Sepich was also nominated for the honor because of his style and method of teaching students about the Wall, Vietnam and the various wars and conflicts the United States has been involved in during the past century. He says Sephich’s style has kids eager to learn.
The post also says Sepich utilized the collection of military memorabilia at the Legion Hall in Holmen Sepin his teaching that was donated by veterans since the Legion was built in 1929.
