Holiday turkey drive helps families in need

Onalaska High School students and staff  are making sure families in the district have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.

The school is hosting a turkey drive this week for families in need. People are donating turkeys along with other ingredients to go along with the meal.

Volunteers will be delivering the food to families throughout the holidays.

Organizers say the turkey drive is just one way to give students and their families something to celebrate this holiday season.

“It’s tough to be food insecure and if we can get this out to all of our students that really need it, it would be the best thing we could do, but we’re helping as many as we can,” said Rhett Hanson from the Onalaska Education Association.

So far more than 70 turkeys have been donated.
