Ho-Chunk Nation shares heritage in West Salem
LA CROSSE (WKBT)– Members of the Ho-Chunk nation gathered in West Salem Sunday to celebrate and share the Native American spirit.
There were Native song and dance performances for anyone in the community to attend.
Members of the community who attended got a taste of the culture and homemade soup and frybread.
Levi Blackdeer, who took part in the performance, feels events like these are important to keep the tradition alive and honor veterans.
“The native dance and stuff like that have always been very important to us. That’s mainly the reason we’re here today,” Blackdeer said.
