Hillside Animal Hospital donates pet supplies to WAFER
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — When people donate to WAFER in La Crosse it typically includes canned goods and other non-perishables. But the Hillside Animal Hospital donated over 5,800 pounds in pet food and supplies on Thursday.
This was the 10th year the hospital has organized a pet food drive for WAFER’s clients.
For people living in poverty, providing for a pet can be difficult. Hillside staff says they recognize that struggle, and are just doing what they can to help.
Dr. Robert Spencer, Owner and Veterinarian at Hillside Animal Hospital says, “We know that the people who use WAFER have pets and sometimes they’re having to make tough choices between feeding themselves and feeding their pets. So, if we can help out a little it really gives us a lot of pleasure.”
The amount of pet supplies from Hillside Animal Hospital will last WAFER approximately 2 to 3 months.
