Heavy Rain Possible Tonight
A Beautiful Weekend Ahead

Good evening, we continue to watch a very slow moving cool front slide into the area. This front is bumping into very warm and humid air. As a result, look for more showers and t-storms in the forecast.
As we head into tonight, look for more scattered showers and t-storms to redevelop across the region. While the threat for widespread severe weather is low, some of these storms could produce funnel clouds through sunset. In most cases, these funnels would be short-lived. However, if one were to touch the ground, it could produce some minor damage. We’ll keep an eye on that through sunset. With a very moist air mass in place, expect pockets of heavy rain. In fact, much of the southern half of the area could receive up to 2” of rainfall tonight. Right now, it appears we can handle that kind of rain as it will occur over a relatively long period of time. However, you’ll want to watch for ponding of water in low spots and urban areas. It will remain muggy, with lows in the middle 60s.
Expect more scattered showers and a few t-storms tomorrow as that slow moving front crosses the area. The bulk of the rain looks to occur during the first half of the day before tapering during the afternoon. Look for a cooler day as highs fall back into the upper 60s to middle 70s. By tomorrow night, skies will slowly clear out. With the front to our east, look for cooler and less humid air to build into the region. In fact, temperatures will tumble into the upper 40s to lower 50s. It will be a good night to turn off the A/C and open those windows.
Friday looks like a really nice day. We can expect some sunshine and highs in the middle and upper 60s to near 70.
Looking ahead… The upcoming weekend looks amazing. Expect sunshine and highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s Saturday. Sunday looks even nicer with more sunshine and highs in the lower 70s.
Enjoy the cooler temperatures while you can. By early next week, the pattern become more active. We’ll see a chance of showers and t-storms Monday as highs top out in the lower 70s. The heat then builds in for the rest of next week as highs return to the lower and middle 80s. In addition, a boundary sitting near the region will keep a chance of showers and t-storms in the forecast through much of the period. In fact, much of next week may end up being very similar to this week.
Have a great night! –WKBT Cory Malles
