Hearings to change guilty plea in shooting of Sara Hougom
Pao Choua Vue looks to change plea after consulting new attorney
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Proceedings have started for a man looking to change his plea in the killing of a young La Crosse woman.
Pao Choua Vue, 23, had a motion hearing Monday. He pleaded guilty to first degree reckless homicide as party to the crime in the shooting death of 20 year old Sara Hougom in 2012.
Vue’s nephew went into Hougom’s apartment to steal her purse and shot her. Vue drove the car to get away.
Back in September he filed to change his guilty plea after consulting with a new attorney that said it’s possible a jury trial would not have proven he intentionally set out to help his nephew rob someone.
Vue’s hearings will continue in the coming weeks.
