Healthy Kids Day keeps families active, learning in La Crosse
Earth Day Dash included multiple activities
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — A fun filled festival at La Crosse’s YMCA focused on getting kids active and healthy.
The Y’s Healthy Kids Day had local families making their way through the Earth Day Dash, learning about staying healthy while having fun.
The race included 6 stations with each requiring participation before continuing on to the next. Stops ranged from a vegetable high-five to a tree watering station.
Organizers say that while it’s a good idea to keep the environment in mind, keeping ourselves active and healthy is just as important.
“As part of the Earth Fair, we also want to make sure that we’re taking care of the Earth and also our bodies and living healthy, so that’s what this event is kind of for. You get them active and then later today we have a bunch of booths and activities that’ll teach them healthy eating and exercise and some things like that,” said La Crosse YMCA Community and Special Events Director Shawn McClone.
About 400 families from around the area made it to La Crosse’s Myrick Park for Sunday’s Healthy Kids Day.
