Health experts help parents understand their children’s anxiety
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — A challenging health topic is sparking conversation in our area.
The first Coffee and Conversation forum kicked off on Saturday with a discussion on anxiety disorders, which affects one in every twelve children.
This collaborative effort between Mayo Clinic Health System and Misty’s Dance Unlimited is providing a space and resources for parents to learn how to raise their children in today’s changing environment.
If left untreated, anxiety can lead to other mental health problems and continue into adulthood.
But health experts say there are ways parents can manage their child’s anxiety.
“Mental health is a concern for everyone and making sure that in this new world we’re living in with technology that we’re truly connecting with each other and supporting each other and yet again, raising those healthy, vibrant children,” said Cindy Shireman, Sustainability Coordinator at Mayo Clinic Health System.
Coffee and Conversation will take place every other month and there is no cost or pre registration required.
